  • One of the outdoor highlights of the Ottawa Region. There are two public beaches and one reserved for campers. A dock with paddle boats and kayaks that can be rented is available too, with lots of parking. Summer parking is about $12/day as of 2016. Trails circle the lake, and the small 'Lusk Cave' system is explore-able about a 1 hour walk away. Wear a swimsuit, decent water shoes and bring a headlight or waterproof flashlight and hardhat or bicycle helmet. Be prepared to get wet...

While the camp site and the lake are quite nice, I have to say we had a terrible experience. We went with our two young kids and hardly slept one night because two of our neighbours partied until 3 am. Both campsites had more people and cars than authorized and did not respond well when we asked them politely to make less noise. We called security at 11:30 pm but they never came. Our neighbours were listening to music, slamming car doors, ringing their car alarms, chopping wood and shouting until 3 am and nothing was done. They should consider a family area or reinforce the 10 pm quiet time.

  • Beach and day parks are great places for a family outing. Park/Beach area has grills for cooking, picnic tables, and the beach area is large with shallow water. Good clean water, although the blackflies and goose feces can be annoying. You can rent canoes at the boat launch, a canoe around the lake is an amazing way to spend an afternoon - one of the better places to rent a canoe in the region.

  • Great hiking options along the lake - just watch the date. The access gates to this area are closed, in the fall, well before many other areas get their winter shut-down. You can still park at the gates and walk in but it adds a lot of time and distance.

  • Excellent for camping The camp sites are a little close together but the overall campsite is fantastic. We stayed in #122. It was very quiet, not a lot of traffic and close to probably the best campsite washrooms I've ever used! The beaches are also very good (when it's not a weekend - they are PACKED on a weekend).
